ODH provides update on frequent citations and annual survey plan

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) shared on a call with LeadingAge Ohio today that they are seeing frequent citations around delays in service due to staffing. Examples include delays in medication administration and CPR response. In addition, concerns with PPE compliance has been identified by surveyors. Additional details will be shared on next week’s Survey Tips and Tactics (STAT) call on Wednesday, January 12 at 10:00AM. LeadingAge Ohio encourages members to have someone from their organization register now for this call. Participation is unlimited per facility.

ODH shared they will restart nursing home annual surveys and prioritize the 230 facilities with backlog complaints still outstanding. They will conduct the annual survey in combination with the complaint survey. Additional updates regarding the regional breakdown of the complaints and ODH’s projected amount of annual surveys will also be discussed during next week’s STAT call.
